Engineering across boundaries

The parts that made the product real.

Locked In pushed me beyond interface development. It demanded native platform work, relational modelling, AI product decisions, social systems and the discipline to run all of them in production.

I built the core product as a shared cross-platform application, while preserving the platform-specific behaviour needed to feel at home on iOS and Android.

From timer to platform

A day is simple. Modelling one is not.

The product began with a clear interaction—start a timer—but real life immediately adds interruptions, parallel tasks, privacy, history, goals and other people. The engineering challenge was to keep that growing system coherent.

Complexity needs visibility

With more than 60 tables and features sharing the same underlying activity data, I learned to reason about system boundaries, downstream effects and safe migrations before changing code.

Real users expose edge cases that prototypes do not. I learned to triage quickly, isolate the cause, communicate clearly and ship focused fixes under pressure.

Marketing the app and monetising advanced features through Super Locked In taught me about positioning, pricing, conversion and balancing free value with a sustainable product.

App review made privacy, moderation, subscriptions, age rules, account deletion, AI disclosures and platform-specific terms part of the engineering—not paperwork after it.

Locked In is the project that taught me how product engineering, operations and business decisions reinforce each other. I learned to manage complexity without freezing, react to real issues without losing the larger architecture, and make technical choices that support trust and growth.
